Windows Update error 80080005 - do I need to do a reinstall to fix?

For a while I have had issues with the Microsoft updates in that if I ever tried to initiate a check for updates manually myself "check for updates" it would fail and bring up te above error code 80080005 however the automatic updates worked (I would see an orange coloured icon in the bottom taskbar every other day or so which would alert me to the fact that updates were needed, and if I clicked...
