I deleted all the contents from the C:/Windows/SoftwareDistribution/Download folder after I got daily failed updates for Windows 10 that I never asked for (at the recommendation of my computer store). Then I read about the possibility of this causing problems with synchronization of installed updates and history and I restored the files from my trashcan but I'm still facing issues....

Windows 7 Updates-Checking and Downloading stuck at 0%
This issue started this past Saturday (Dec 12, 2015)
Per Windows Update Posting instructions:
1. Downloaded SURT. When first tried to download SURT on Saturday, it would not download. But, when tried again yesterday (Sun, Dec 13) - it was successful. However, although it said the installation of 9847821 was successful and it showed up in Update History, it did NOT show up in Installed Updates....

Windows update checks for updates for hours without any actions
I did a fresh install of Win7 Ultimate x64 and after WU found the SP1 update, applied it, and rebooted, it no longer seems to be working.
What it does: "Checking for updates..." runs for hours (over 3 now) without continuing. If I look in my task manager, svchost.exe has a Commit size of 2,020,309K and is taking 100% of one of the cores.

Can a Windows 7 retail key be used to activate an OEM installation?
I have an OEM installation disc of Windows 7 from CyberPowerPC that includes Windows 7 Home, Pro, and Ultimate. I have an OEM key for Windows 7 Pro (since that is the only OEM version of Windows 7 Microsoft allows for new PCs any more).

Update error 80073712 / missing XPS manifest files
Hi all,
My ultimate goal is to install the Windows 7 Platform update which right now fails.
SFC /scannow reports corrupt files unable to fix.
WindowsUpdateDiagnostic tool, it reports Update error 80073712 as not fixed.
I also run the system upgrade readiness tool.

I downloaded windows 10 but did not like it. I uninstalled it.
